Los Ebanos Ferry Crossing - November 2021 On November 28, 2021 Jan and I decided to ride the Los Ebanos Ferry over the Rio Grande to the Mexico side with some friends of ours from the RV resort. This is a hand operated cable ferry that travels across the Rio Grande from Los Ebanos, Tx to Gustavo Diaz Ordaz, Tamaulipas. Cable might not be the right word, as it was actually a large rope that was used to pull it across. This ferry opened in 1950, and is the only remaining international ferry operation on the US-Mexico border. This crossing has also been featured on the Texas Bucket List . It has also been featured on the texas Country Reporter. We crossed over and then rode right back as the nearest town on the Mexico side is a few miles down the road. No walking that far for us on that day. The ferry crossing was enough of a thrill for us.
